Intro
Allosaurus(different lizard) was the dominant predator during the Jurassic. It is probably one of the most successful predators ever to live. Fossils have been found in America, Africa and Australia.
Appearance
Allosaurus was the most common predator during the Jurassic. It was an awesome but bloody sight to see this therapod in a hunt. Allosaurus was 8.5 meters in length, though some could reach 12 meters in length. It was a pack hunter, hunting sauropods like Brachiosaurus and Camarasaurus.
Diet
Allosaurus was a big game and pack hunter. It hunted using a combination of stealth and speed. One popular tactic is to keep their prey's attention on some members of the pack, whilst other members surprise attack it from behind. Another tactic on families is similar but simpler: keep the mother's attention away from the baby. If hunting alone, it would probably stalk it's prey, then dash out suddenly so the victim had no time to reacte.
Bite
You would think that all meat eaters had powerful bites, but Allosaurus had actually a weak bite, only 440lb was the strongest strength of one tooth. But Allosaurus had a skull that could withstand massive force, up to six tons! So scientists concluded that Allosaurus used a 'axe chopping' method of biting, driving the head and neck down onto the prey and tearing out hunks of flesh.
