Intro
This is Spinosaurus(spine lizard). At 12.6 to 18 metres long and 7 to 20.9 tonnes in weight, it kicked out Giganatosaurus, Charcaradontosaurus and Tyrannosaurus as the biggest predator ever. No predator can match it's size. It lived during the Mid Cretaceous in Africa.
Appearance
Spinosaurus is very noticeable because of the giant sail on it's back. This sail shows that Spinosaurus was cold blooded. Cold blooded means that the body temperature is controlled by the sun, and the sail indicates that. Spinosaurus also had a much more crocodile-like head than other therapods, with a pointed snout and a narrow mouth. Apart from these differences, Spinosaurus looked like a normal therapod.
Diet
Spinosaurus's size meant it could be a big game hunter, but unusually for therapods, it ate fish. And quite large fish it ate! However, a fossil has been found with young Iguanodon bones and some pterosaur bones! This hints that Spinosaurus ate lots of different kinds of meat. Although Spinosaurus was large, rising sea levels destroyed it's habitat and so the species became extinct.
