Intro
Majungasaurus(Mahajanga lizard) is a abelisaur which lived in Madagascar during the Late Cretaceous 70 to 65.5 million years ago.
It was briefly called Majungatholus, which is now considered a junior synonym of the real name. Majungasaurus is also one of the
dinosaurs to show direct cannibalism.
Appearance
Majungasaurus was a medium sized therapod which measured 6-7 metres in length. It's skull is well known compared to other
therapods and is similar to it's relative Carnotosaurus. It had horns like Ceratosaurus, but they were pretty small. Males are larger than
females.
Diet
Majungasaurus hunted sauropods like Rapetosaurus. This is normal for therapods, but Majungasaurus was slightly weird in that it was
also a cannibal. In the documentary series Dinosaur Planet, a male Majungasaurus tries to eat a carcass but ends up being lunch for
the female who was eating the carcass. Also, in the series Jurrasic Fight Club, a male Majungasaurus comes upon a female, and tries
to mate, but sees the female has babies and tries to kill them. The male kills them but ends up being killed by the female. These fights
show that Majungasaurus was a very aggressive dino.
